Joe & Kelly Blazosky
As New York State began to focus on the craft beverage industry as a key economic driver, Kelly and Joe identified the lack of cooperage availability as a gap in the industry supply chain. Together they started Adirondack Barrel Cooperage, taking it from entrepreneurial concept to fully operational within three years, serving 100+ distilleries, wineries and breweries with premium high-quality barrels.
Joe mentored with master cooper Rick DeFerrari at Oregon Barrel Works and applied his 35 years of master carpentry and finish woodworking experience to the art of barrel making. Learning traditional French coopering methods, he quickly formed a passion for the trade. Applying that knowledge toward the development of a new cooperage in upstate New York, Joe set out to build a better barrel for the craft beverage industry.
Kelly handles the behind the scenes operations. With 19 years of experience in travel and tourism industry as president of Destination Marketing Organizations in Ohio and New York, she brings a broad knowledge of marketing, grant writing and business operations to the company.
Joe and Kelly have three children, Randi, Marcie, and Matthew, and an Airedale Terrier, aptly named Cooper.
Adirondack Barrel Cooperage sources only the best 36-month air dried export grade American white oak, uses precision CNC stave jointing, and blends advanced charring and toasting techniques with traditional coopering methods to produce the finest high-quality barrels with unparalleled consistency…The graceful way to age!
Vinny is Joe and Kelly’s nephew. The son of Joe’s late brother John Blazosky. Vinny brings 15 years of residential and commercial carpentry skills and experience to Adirondack Barrel Cooperage. He holds a degree in Educational Studies with a minor in Mathematics from Kent State University. After evaluating career options, Aaron decided to move to upstate New York to join our growing team at Adirondack Barrel Cooperage as an apprentice cooper. Aaron resides in Whitesboro with his cat, Jeffy.
After retiring from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 43, Dave was ready for a new challenge. His 18 years of experience as a Journeyman Wireman, construction knowledge and related carpentry skills provided the perfect foundation to transition into a second career as an apprentice cooper. Dave and his wife Beth reside in Rome, NY. They have a daughter, Dana, who lives in Denver, CO.
Chris comes from a long line of wood workers and spent his childhood growing up around sawmills and construction sites with his grandfather and uncle. His education and background in construction trades from the tiny house craze to the fiber optics industry has proved to be beneficial to learning the coopering trade. Chris lives in Blossvale, plays the guitar, enjoys fishing, collects vintage equipment and has dog named Gizmo!
